For Australian teachers

Mark a class set in minutes.

AutoMark reads scanned, handwritten tests and marks every answer against your key — then shows you only the few it can't verify. You confirm every mark before it's recorded.

How it works

Three steps, then back to teaching.

01

Set your test & answer key

Build the test once — questions, marks, and the key. AutoMark prints the paper too: the PDF you hand out is the same test it marks against.

02

Get the papers in — any way

Drop a scanned class set, snap phone photos, or email the scans straight to your own AutoMark address from the staffroom copier. AutoMark splits the pile into papers by itself.

03

Review only what's uncertain

Most answers mark themselves. You check the handful AutoMark flags, confirm or override, then commit the results.

What it marks

Made for the tests you actually set.

Not just multiple choice. AutoMark's test builder covers the formats a real class test uses — and marks the handwriting in every one of them.

Short & long answer

A word, a number, a sentence, a paragraph — read from the handwriting and marked against your key.

Multiple choice & selection

Circled letters, ticked boxes, underlined words in a passage — whatever your paper asks students to pick.

Tables & working grids

Fill-in tables with marks per cell — times tables, data tables, conjugation grids — marked cell by cell.

Fill the gaps

Cloze passages with as many gaps as you like, each with its own accepted answers.

Ordering & matching

Put the steps in sequence, match the term to the definition — marked with partial credit where it's due.

Spelling tests

When spelling counts, AutoMark reads the word letter by letter — exactly as written, never autocorrected to what it "should" be.

Multi-part questions, per-question marks, and reuse across every class you teach — built in.

The review moment

The handwriting, beside the answer — every time.

Every reading is checked against the scan before it counts. Anything that doesn't pass is put in front of you with the handwriting right there. Confirm or override in a single keystroke, and move to the next.

The scan is the source of truth
The cropped region of the real paper sits beside the extracted answer — never more than a glance away.
Verified, never guessed
Each reading either passes verification against the handwriting or it doesn't — and everything that doesn't is flagged for you. No invented confidence scores.
Keyboard-first, built for a rhythm
Confirm with one key, override with another. A whole class set resolves in a steady confirm‑next rhythm — with bulk confirm when a run comes back clean.

Couldn't verify This reading didn't pass the check against the handwriting — AutoMark won't guess, so it's asking you.

After the marking

The answers you actually wanted from the marking.

Marking a pile of papers was never the point — knowing what to reteach tomorrow is. Every committed run feeds the records automatically.

  • Which questions the class lost marks on — so the next lesson writes itself.
  • How each student has gone — every test, every question, in one record.
  • Classes, not lists — your roster grouped the way your timetable is.
  • CSV export of any student or run — your gradebook, your rules.
Privacy & trust

It's student work. We built like it.

Scanned tests are children's personal information. That shaped the architecture, not just the policy page.

Stored in Australia

Scans, results, and backups live in an Australian region, encrypted in transit. The privacy policy names every provider that processes anything, and why.

A teacher confirms every mark

No result is ever recorded by a solely automated decision. You review, you commit — and corrections after commit leave an audit trail, never a silent edit.

Deleted means deleted

Scan images purge automatically at the end of their retention window. Export everything any time; deleting your account removes the lot.

The full story, in plain English: our privacy policy.

Pricing

A dollar a student, marking included.

One credit marks one scanned page. Spelling tests use 3 a page — they get the letter-by-letter treatment. Credits you don't use roll over. Prices in AUD.
