Two unrelated products are called AutoMark. This page exists so you can tell in ten seconds which one you were searching for.
If you want to mark essays against a rubric, you want automark.io. If you want to mark a scanned class set of handwritten tests in Australia, you're in the right place. We are AutoMark at automarkhq.com, an Australian tool for individual teachers; automark.io is a separate United States product for AI-assisted marking of typed essays and short answers. Same name, different jobs, no connection.

Why the name clash
Both names come from the same two words: automatic marking. It is the obvious name for the job, and two teams reached for it independently. To be explicit — there is no affiliation between us and automark.io: no shared ownership, no partnership, no licensing, and no data passing between the two. An account with one is unknown to the other.
Which one do I want?
- automark.io, if your students hand in typed work through a computer or your school's learning management system, and you want a rubric-locked draft score and feedback that you edit before it goes back.
- AutoMark, if your class writes on paper. You print the test, they sit it, you feed the pile through the copier, and the handwriting is read and marked against your answer key — with the scan beside anything the check couldn't verify.
The overlap is small, and we'd rather name the gaps. We don't mark essays: AutoMark is built for structured answers, and long-form writing that needs judgement about argument and expression isn't what its review queue is for. And as far as their site describes, automark.io doesn't read scanned handwriting.
One last difference: automark.io publishes accuracy figures for its own marking. We publish none — a number like that tells you nothing about your class and your students' handwriting. What we publish instead is what happens when a reading can't be verified: it is flagged, with the crop, for you.
